Doilies, Motifs, Snowflakes, Techniques, Bookmarks, Crosses, Angels and Pendant

Mistene has round 4 of Renulek's Spring 2016 Doily done. She's not sure she likes how the inner rings overlap, but it doesn't take away from the look of the doily.

Jane says Motif 12 is trickier than it looks and the one on the left is her first attempt which was blocked into submission, but the centre is way overcrowded. Take two on the right is not perfect, but a lot better. She used mock rings  for Motif 13, as she did with motif 11. Motif 14 is in the one shuttle section of the book, but requires two shuttles and it forms the centre of the next motif.

Sharon made the coaster pattern from the Handy Hands catalog in size 20 Honey Drizzle, but found it a little small. Worked in size 10 Karey Solomon HDT it is the perfect size although she used a split ring to climb out of the central ring and avoided hiding the ends on the first ring. She found some open balls of size 20 Blue Ice thread and used it to tat Robin Perfetti's Eclipse.

Eliz has returned to the snowflakes in Lene Bjorn's 24 Snowflakes in Tatting with the Ninth Day of December which contains lots of block tatting done in Manuela #052 (red) size 20 and Cebelia (white) size 20. She made progress on on her Spring 2014 Renulek doily, and she thinks she's completed about 10 of the scallops on the final round. The Tenth Day of December from 24 Snowflakes in Tatting by Lene Bjorn is done in DMC Size 80, Colour #67 Variegated Baby Blue. She has been experimenting with mock rings made by joining a chain back to itself. Here are some of the results. Since round 7 of Renulek's 2016 Spring doily was a simple row, she decided to play around with different colours to see what appeals to her.

Nikki worked through rows 6 and 7 of Renulek's Spring 2014 doily and discovered that she made a mistake that will result in either having to undo a large amount of tatting, or cutting off the mistake, except that just before the mistake is where she added in new thread and we all know what that's like. To fix or not to fix.

Melanie tatted the curled ring motif designed by Muskaan in the colour named, Piano Keys.

Diane is still working toward her goal of one Spinning Wheel completed each week. Here it is in red Manuela, a Spinning Wheel Glass Mat. She came across some Fiore thread that came in pink or yellow and she bought one of each, so she started her next glass mat in the pink.

Fox sent her heart doily off to her friend and hasn't heard back...did this fated doily get lost in the mail? She's working on two projects; the hanky edging which is half way done and the Renulek Wiosna 2016, Row 7 is halfway finished as well.

Marie has memorized the pattern for Christina, one of her favourite Lene designs. She tatted Angela's butterfly without the beads to add to a cord she made.

Muskaan tatted the bookmark by Ninetta Caruso again and tweaked the outer chain to adjust for her tension. She made the leaf with 2 silk threads in shaded green. She gives some information on the shoe lace trick (SLT), and an SLT picot that lets you change colours in the middle of a chain. The celtic knot picot is a decorative addition to your tatting. In this vintage edging pattern, the inner circle is done as directed in the pattern, but the outer circle, has pointy chains to give it a little more punch. Rounds 5 and 6 of Spring Doily 2016 are done, waiting for the next round. When the Angel with Paisley Wings by Sheila Heneise landed in her mailbox, she had to give it a try. Each of the 4 large rings in the motif has been worked differently using the stitch-count given by Eliz.

Phyllis made the earrings from Tat Days 2015 by Nina Libin. Jane Eborall inspired her to practise baubles which she learned at Tat Days 2014. She was looking for an edging for a project and got out Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns to make Chain Reaction, but it isn't quite what she was looking for.

Sue has only one more round to go on the "hide and seek" doily she has been working on in secret. She shows a re-design of a cross she adapted from one of Elaine P. Gan's bracelet patterns done in size 40 Lizbeth Salmon Med. While tatting the tiny cross yesterday she thought that the top and center would make a wonderful pendant worked in size 40 Lizbeth Salmon Med.
with tiny muted purple beads.

Wanda thinks her Medallion Cross Bookmark is finally ready made in Lizbeth #657 Ocean Turquoise Dark in size 20. She has included the pattern in her patterns tab.
